LAC Conveyors is installing a major conveyor system, including 28 Paternoster lifts, to one of the UK’s largest chicken processing companies, in an order approaching £3 million. The new poultry conveyor will allow the client to deal simultaneously with the 3 key parts of the chicken: namely breast, leg and wings which are all packaged separately.  The client has asked for the line to move 3 crates per minute to cope with its current output although the sophisticated conveyor system can easily operate at three times that speed.  The lifts are divided into 14 up-lifts, which take the boxes of packaged trays to the despatch point.  These have been fitted with metal detectors and a “Reject Chute” which removes the offending box for further inspection should the metal detector be triggered. The 14 down-lifts bring clean, empty boxes back into the facility. Currently there are...

LAC Conveyors recently supplied an impressive 1.5m wide, 7m long tracker belt conveyor for handling bagged waste from an internal manual load area to an external skip – this meant that it was potentially exposed to the great British weather.  LAC managed to manufacture the conveyor from their standard, heavy duty, wide Tracker belt design despite some interesting space constraints caused by the failed conveyor it was replacing.  Using standard designs such as this helps to keep customers’ costs down.  Even our standard designs allow for some adaptation as we recognise how rarely two customers’ requirements are exactly the same.  In this case, we included the bespoke elements of a  grip face belt with a slight troughed edge to prevent debris ingress to the underside of the belt (and into the conveyor workings…not good).

As with all conveyor projects, however small or large, LAC Conveyors’ engineers and designers carefully assessed the customer’s conveyor requirement.  Once this was completed, detailed...

This standard heavy duty Pallet Conveyor is designed to transfer 1200 x 1000 two way entry pallets weighing 1500kgs across a shutter door between two buildings, with the added complexity of having to convey them the wrong way to aid final positioning at the robot de-palletising location. LAC Conveyor Systems manufactured this Drawer Bridge conveyor to enable pallets to transfer into an air lock area which is segregated with shutter doorways. The Drawer Bridge Conveyor is fitted to the end of a standard Triple Chain Conveyor which also acts as a lift and transfer and is operated by rotary cylinders. We were fortunate enough to recently provide a remarkable eight conveyors to the automotive tyre industry.  Seven were our bestselling standard grip face PVC belt conveyors and the final one meant we had to use our “little grey cells” just a little bit more…

Tyres needed to transfer between the seven standard grip face PVC belt conveyors and a new bespoke conveyor we had been commissioned to build.  The difficulty was that tyres needed to move across at 90 degrees to the direction of travel and any failure at the critical transfer moment would have a catastrophic effect on the success of the main handling system and the upstream production.  It was also clear that this solitary bespoke conveyor had to be incredibly robust as it needed...

This heavy duty Powered Pallet Conveyor has been designed and manufactured to transport our clients 1200 x 1000 pallets weighing 600kgs into and out of a robot cell. There have been five of these conveyor sections supplied for this project that required a special over slung drive mounting position to allow access for the robot tooling to place and palletise pallets onto the conveyor. A further requirement was for the conveyors to have a 150mm top of roller height to enable the pallets to be loaded onto the conveyor by a Hand Pallet Truck.

The conveyors have 80mm diameter duplex sprocket rollers set at 150.5mm pitch and are fitted  into a mild steel painted profile.
